England's Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's last Test for New Zealand was versus England in December 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Southee is still working through what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi pace bowler is only likely to be present for the first Test due to his participation in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, aged 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Speaking as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, Southee stated of his participation: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We'll see the outcome over the coming days."
England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which starts on 21 November.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [the English] team that's heading out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
However, before the English team travel to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
