Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Offences

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
