Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
