Jurgen Klopp states rejoining to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the notion that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage another team on English soil. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, so the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, he confessed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. Success was frequent meaning regularly positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him due to the changes that won the league last campaign. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in every contest after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the suggestion that it might signal a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built well-judged squad. No need for concern over the club, they will be fine.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward was killed in a road accident together with his sibling this past summer.
“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond his on-field talent, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the team environment absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A profound tragedy for the entire squad also. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this individually is challenging. Overwhelming.”
