A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.
"The recent weather was truly difficult for the people. The storms were so powerful... And the winds were so strong," stated the representative.
Officials express grave anxiety that minors living in tents in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and various illnesses.
Fatalities and Significant Damage
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures due to the severe weather.
Further statements indicate a increased fatality count. Authorities said that multiple structures had fully given way and dozens had collapsed partially.
- Roughly 55,000 families harmed by the weather.
- More than 40 designated safe spaces inundated.
- Countless residents required to relocate again.
Assistance Distribution Deemed Inadequate
Groups have increased deliveries of tarpaulins, warm covers and clothing after the truce commenced, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"Agencies are operating tirelessly to deliver that aid and to distribute it, but the size of the needs is so immense that we continue to see thousands of individuals and children who are truly enduring hardship each evening," stated one official.
Long-Term Challenges and Ceasefire Terms
The subsequent part of the truce includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of troops, and other provisions.
Aid bodies have underscored the imperative for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to address immediate and long-term requirements."
The conflict was initiated by an assault in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent military operations have led to a high number of fatalities in the area, according to health ministry figures.
