Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
