Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 because of a health issue that has affected her in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

She was also playing far from freely in the third set against Zhu because of a lower back issue that has affected her at times this year.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 matches in the current season and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
