Triple Most Valuable Player Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' knee injury.
Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.
Jokic was hurt towards the end of the second quarter following an accidental coming together with teammate Spencer Jones.
The other player came down on the footwear of Jokic, and he promptly went down to the court holding his leg.
The 30-year-old, that is leading the league this season in boards and dimes, posted 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before incurring the setback.
Jokic is scheduled for an scan on Tuesday to determine the seriousness of the issue.
"Immediately, Jokic realized there was a problem," commented Nuggets coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Whoever who suffers an injury, it's tough to see, most notably a player as special as Jokic. More information will come on Tuesday."
"We will continue together. Clearly, right now, I'm more worried primarily about him as a person and the letdown of experiencing an event of that nature."
